Over twenty years of experience earned in the trenches of network television and documentary filmmaking has given John the expertise to confidently wear many hats in the production world. Fluent English, Spanish, and French language skills provide invaluable communication assets on shoots around the world. Also an experienced alpinist with first ascents in mountains around the globe, John brings a cool head and positive attitude to intense situations and knows the “ropes” of vertical realms.

Still photographer
Starting as and intern photographer with the Houston Post, John has been published in National Geographic, Oceanus, Climbing Magazine, the American Alpine Journal. He’s also worked commercially for art dealers shooting catalogue images and for real estate developers shooting promotional materials.

Cameraman/director
2 emmys, 4 emmy nominations, 1 cine gold eagle, and a San Diego press association award attest to his abilitiy behind the lens. John is comfortable with many different mediums including HD, DV,  Digi-Beta, Beta-SP, and 16mm and 35mm.

Producer
JC’s talent as a storyteller and producer manifests itself with more than a dozen national, international film festival awards as producer of JUMP!, La Escoba de Dios, et al

Location scout
Finding the perfect location has long been part of John’s talents. John’s knowledge of the great outdoors and his extensive travels to over 35 countries gives him a unique aquaintance of some on the world’s most impressive regions from mountains in Tibet & Patagonia, to jungles in Burma & the desert southwest in the USA.

Safety/Rigging co-ordinator
As a veteran alpinist, he knows the ropes. Recently he supervised the hiring of climbers/riggers and co-ordinated on-site safety for a Toyota industrial film.
